Sharon Hill Public Library Director Richard E. Ashby, Jr. has long been a champion of providing literary resources to underserved communities, having founded Literacy Nation over a decade ago together with his wife, Charmaine Ashby.
Today, as the first African American male Library Director in the Delaware County, Ashby is a strong advocate for building diversity and inclusion among library resources. Through Literacy Nation, authors of color now have an easier time accessing the resources they need to succeed, including literary agents, publishing opportunities, as well as promotion and marketing.
