Let’s Keep Our Neighborhood Clean!

July 8, 2025

Hi Neighbors,

Sharon Hill should be a place we all love to live. A big part of what can make our community beautiful is its cleanliness. To help us keep our borough looking its best, here’s a friendly reminder on the proper way to put out your trash on collection days. Following these simple guidelines makes a big difference for everyone!

Per the Borough’s Code, here’s How to Properly Prepare Your Trash:

  • Use Covered Containers: Please place all trash in durable, lidded trash cans. This helps prevent spills, animal interference, and litter scattering.
  • Bag It Up: Please bag your trash before placing it inside the can. This helps
keep the cans cleaner and makes collection more efficient.
  • Mind the Weight: Each can or bag should be a manageable weight for our collection team – generally no more than 50 pounds. If it’s too heavy, it may not be picked up.
  • Place at the Curb: Please place your trash containers at the curb, no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before your scheduled collection day.
  • Remove Empties Promptly: Once your trash has been collected, please bring your empty cans back from the curb by 6:00 PM on collection day.

Why Does This Matter?

Proper trash disposal helps us:

  • Reduce Litter: Prevents trash from blowing down streets and into yards.
  • Deter Pests: Keeps rodents and other animals from getting into garbage.
  • Maintain Appearance: Ensures our streets look tidy and welcoming for
    residents and visitors alike.
  • Protect our Stormwater System: Keeps drains free of debris.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep Sharon Hill Borough a beautiful and clean place for all of us to enjoy!
